A self portrait

You know, now that I've posted this picture, I feel that I haven't taken a final picture of the painting.. I remember making a few more changes after taking the first round of pictures...

I'm only 2 hours into this painting and I'm already incredibly proud of it. Our model was super pretty and did a wonderful job of sitting still. I don't think there is really much more to do to her face, but the background provided a bit of a challenge. It didn't seem to work well with my composition at all... and the shirt. Such a pretty colored shirt but you wouldn't know that, because I only gave you a blurry super cropped cell phone photo of my painting!  

My first commission

So, exactly two months ago I received a commission. My first EVER commission as an artist.
Meet Pippa. Perhaps one of the most adorable dogs ever. I've never met her in person, but I hear she's a real spitfire.

I took a little artistic license with the palette, but fortunately the colors matched the recipient's living room color scheme perfectly. And the attitude I gave Pippa captured her perfectly. What artist DOESN'T like to hear such things on their first try. Hooray!

So now you are all caught up. Too bad I didn't manage to capture a better shot of the painting :/
